VinFast EV charger: which model suits your car?
If you drive a VinFast, you charge at home with up to 11 kW alternating current (AC). This applies to every electric model from the Vietnamese brand, from the VF 8 to the VF 9. At Wallbox Discounter we have a separate page with specific charger advice for each VinFast. On this page you read which charging power your VinFast handles and how to reach the right model.
Charging specifications per VinFast model
Every VinFast EV uses a Type 2 connection, the standard charging connector in Europe. They charge at home up to 11 kW over a three-phase connection, which uses three live wires for higher power. A faster 22 kW home charger brings no benefit for these cars. The car itself never charges faster than 11 kW AC.
| Model | Max. AC charging power | Page |

Which charger suits a VinFast?
Because every VinFast charges up to 11 kW AC, an 11 kW charger is the logical choice. That way you use the full charging speed of the car, provided you have a three-phase connection in your meter cupboard. With only a single-phase connection you charge at a lower power, which is still ample for an overnight charge for most drivers.
Preferably choose a charger with a built-in MID meter. A MID meter is a certified kWh meter that records your charging use accurately. From 2026, and only in the Netherlands, private drivers can earn back up to 500 euro per year on home charging costs. The refund runs through your energy supplier, but only with such a certified meter. Buying a charger without a MID meter now means leaving that benefit on the table.

We recommend having the work done by a qualified installer, which is safer and important for your insurance. We arrange installation through a certified partner across the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany.

Frequently asked questions about VinFast chargers
Which charging power do most VinFast cars have?
Every electric VinFast charges at home with up to 11 kW alternating current (AC) over a three-phase connection. Both the VF 8 and the VF 9 Extended Range support this power. A charger with a higher rating does not charge faster, because the car itself sets the upper limit.
Does a VinFast have a Type 1 or Type 2 connection?
All VinFast models use a Type 2 connection, also called the Mennekes plug. This is the European standard. So you can use any modern charger with Type 2. You only need a separate Type 2 charging cable if you want to charge your VinFast on the go. You use it at a public charging point.
