Which EV charger suits the VinFast VF 9 Extended Range?

At home the VF 9 Extended Range charges at up to 11 kW on a three-phase connection. Three-phase means a supply that carries three live phases instead of one. An 11 kW charger is therefore the logical choice, because the car cannot go faster. A 22 kW unit adds nothing at home.

With that 11 kW you refill the big battery over a single night, without any planning. Also look at what the charger measures. A MID meter is a certified kWh meter built into the charger. It shows exactly what charging at home costs, apart from the rest of your household use.

How long does the VinFast VF 9 Extended Range take to charge?

The maths is simple. Divide the 123 kWh battery by 11 kW of charging power. That lands you at roughly 11 hours from empty to full. In practice you rarely run a battery this size down to empty. Plug in with a third of the battery left and the car is ready the next morning.

A big battery is exactly where a fixed 11 kW charger pays off. An ordinary wall socket would take days to do the same job.

Does the VinFast VF 9 Extended Range need a three-phase supply?

For the full 11 kW at home, yes. Your meter box needs three live phases for that. On a single-phase supply the charging power drops and the big 123 kWh battery takes considerably longer. A qualified electrician can tell you whether your supply can be upgraded and what that involves where you live.

Why does a MID meter matter for the VF 9 Extended Range?

A MID-certified kWh meter records your charging accurately. You then know what a full battery costs you at home, separately from the rest of your electricity bill. On a car that draws this much every night, that difference adds up quickly.

Is installation by a qualified electrician mandatory?

That depends on where you live, so check the rules in your own country. We always recommend it either way. A qualified electrician makes the connection safely, and that matters for your insurance.
