Lucid Air Touring EV charger: which one is the best fit?

The Lucid Air Touring is one of the few electric cars that can use the full 22 kW AC charging capacity at home. While most EVs are limited to 11 kW on a home connection, the Air Touring can use the full 22 kW through its powerful onboard charger, provided that the EV charger and electrical installation support this capacity. This makes choosing the right EV charger particularly important. Would you first like to explore the wider range? View the overview of Lucid Air EV chargers or all Lucid EV charger options.

For the Lucid Air Touring, we recommend choosing a charger from our range of 22 kW EV chargers.

Which EV charger is suitable for the Lucid Air Touring?

Because the Air Touring supports AC charging at up to 22 kW, a 22 kW EV charger provides the shortest possible charging time at home: approximately five hours for a full battery, compared with around ten hours using an 11 kW charger. To achieve 22 kW, you need a three-phase 3 × 32A electrical connection. Due to the high charging capacity, we also recommend Dynamic Load Balancing so the available power can be distributed safely between the EV charger and other electrical appliances. An integrated MID meter is useful when the charged kilowatt-hours must be recorded accurately and verifiably, for example for reimbursement by an employer, leasing company or your own business. In the Netherlands, a compatible charger with a MID meter may also be used for ERE registration. ERE certificates are only applicable in the Netherlands.

How long does it take to charge the Lucid Air Touring?

You can estimate the charging time by dividing the battery capacity by the charging power. With the 92 kWh battery pack and a 22 kW EV charger, the Air Touring charges from empty to full in approximately five hours, including normal charging losses. This adds around 110 kilometres of driving range per hour of charging. With an 11 kW EV charger, a full charging session takes approximately ten hours. This is usually sufficient for overnight charging, but a 22 kW charger offers a clear advantage when you need to recharge quickly during the day. During a journey, the Air Touring supports DC fast charging at up to 200 kW.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Lucid Air Touring require a three-phase connection?

A three-phase 3 × 32A connection is required to achieve the full 22 kW charging capacity. If this connection is not available, the car will simply charge at a lower power, resulting in a longer charging session. Because 22 kW represents a high continuous electrical load, we recommend Dynamic Load Balancing and an assessment of the electrical connection. Always have the EV charger connected by a qualified electrical installer.

Why is a MID meter useful for the Lucid Air Touring?

A MID meter is a certified kWh meter that accurately and verifiably records the electricity used during charging. This is particularly important when charging costs are reimbursed by an employer, leasing company or your own business. In the Netherlands, a compatible EV charger with a MID meter may also be used for ERE registration. ERE certificates are only applicable in the Netherlands. Due to the large battery and high charging capacity of the Lucid Air Touring, a considerable number of kilowatt-hours can be recorded during each charging session.
