Tesla Model 3 EV charger: overview per version
The Tesla Model 3 comes in several versions, from the Standard to the Performance. Each one has its own battery and its own range. That matters less for home charging than you might expect. Every Model 3 accepts up to 11 kW through the European Type 2 connector. Versions of the Tesla Model 3

Which EV charger suits the Tesla Model 3?
Whichever version you drive, the on-board charger of the Tesla Model 3 accepts a maximum of 11 kW AC. Those 11 kW need a three-phase supply. On a single-phase connection the car charges more slowly, whatever charger you put on the wall. With three phases an 11 kW charger uses that speed in full and refills the car overnight, including the Long Range with the largest battery. A faster 22 kW charger adds nothing at home, because the car never charges faster than its on-board charger allows.
Look for a charger with a built-in MID meter. A MID meter is a certified kWh meter, so it records exactly how much power your car takes. That keeps your charging separate from the rest of your household use. You can see exactly what charging at home costs you. Frequently asked questions about the Tesla Model 3
Does every Tesla Model 3 charge at the same speed at home?
Yes. Every version of the Model 3 has an 11 kW on-board charger, so they all charge at the same speed. The difference is the battery. A Long Range holds more than a Standard, so a full charge takes longer. You also drive further on that charge.
Do you need a special charging cable for the Tesla Model 3?
The Model 3 has a Type 2 connection, the European standard for AC charging. Whether you need your own cable depends on the charger. A model with a fixed cable is ready to use. With a socket model you use a separate Type 2 charging cable, which also works at public charge points.
