That figure decides which charger makes sense for you. On an 11 kW charger the car is full again overnight, in around 7 hours. Which EV charger fits the MINI Countryman E?
The MINI Countryman E takes up to 11 kW at home. An 11 kW charger on a three-phase connection gets everything out of the standard on-board charger. A heavier 22 kW model adds nothing on top of that, because the car caps at 11 kW. Did you order the optional 22 kW on-board charger? So the charging power is settled. Three features decide the rest for a car with a battery this size:
- A MID meter is a certified kWh meter built into the charger. It measures the electricity you put into the car at home, apart from the rest of your household use. So you can see what a full battery actually costs. In our range this meter is three-phase only, and at 11 kW the choice is narrow. Compare the chargers with a MID meter before you decide.
- Load balancing means the charger watches how much capacity your main fuse box has left. When the rest of the house needs more, it lowers the charging power instead of tripping a fuse. A 64.7 kWh battery charges for hours on end, so that matters here. Several EV chargers with dynamic load balancing run at 11 kW.
- App control lets you start, pause and schedule a session from your phone. That way you charge when your electricity is cheapest, without setting an alarm. You will find EV chargers with an app at 11 kW too.

How long does the MINI Countryman E take to charge?
On an 11 kW charger the 64.7 kWh battery goes from nearly empty to full in around 7 hours. That figure includes charging losses. The plain sum of capacity divided by power lands just under 6 hours, so reckon with the higher number. Plug in during the evening and you drive off in the morning with a full battery.
No three-phase connection at your address? Then the car still charges at 7.4 kW on a single-phase 32 A supply, which fills the battery in about 10.5 hours. Our 7.4 kW EV chargers cover exactly that situation. Only on a lighter 16 A supply does the power drop to 3.7 kW, and a full charge then takes around 21 hours.

Frequently asked questions about the MINI Countryman E
Why does a MID meter matter for the MINI Countryman E?
Only if you want to know exactly what charging at home costs you. The meter records the car's consumption apart from the rest of the house, which is what you need for a figure per kilowatt-hour. That figure is what you hand to your employer, or use for your own bookkeeping. Do not need it? Then the meter is not worth narrowing your choice for.
Does the MINI Countryman E need a three-phase connection?
For the full 11 kW, yes. On a single-phase 32 A supply the car still manages 7.4 kW, and on a 16 A supply 3.7 kW. No three-phase connection yet? Your grid operator can usually arrange one, but the procedure and the cost differ per country.
Does the charger have to be fitted by an electrician?
We always advise having the connection made by a qualified electrician. It is safer, and it matters for your insurance. What is legally required differs per country, so check the rules where you live.
