The BYD Dolphin 60.4 kWh charges at home with a maximum AC power of 11 kW through a Type 2 socket. Its 60.5 kWh Blade battery takes you up to 427 km (WLTP), the range measured in the European WLTP test. The charger you pick mainly decides how quickly that battery is full again. Which EV charger suits the BYD Dolphin 60.4 kWh?
On a three-phase connection the Dolphin charges at the full 11 kW, the maximum the car accepts. A 22 kW charger will not charge it any faster. An 11 kW model is therefore exactly what you need.

In the Netherlands, and only there, that meter earns you money back through your energy supplier from 2026. Anywhere else it still gives you solid proof of what you charged at home. How long does it take to charge the BYD Dolphin 60.4 kWh?
An 11 kW charger fills the 60.5 kWh battery in about 5.5 hours on paper. In practice you count on roughly 6.5 hours, because charging always costs some energy in losses. Plug the car in at 23:00 and it is full by morning.
On a single-phase connection the Dolphin charges at a fraction of that speed. A full charge then takes roughly ten to sixteen hours, depending on the amperage of your group. With a battery this size a three-phase connection is well worth arranging.

Does the BYD Dolphin 60.4 kWh need a three-phase connection?
You need a three-phase connection of 3x16 amps to charge at the full 11 kW. On a single-phase connection the charging power stays well below 11 kW, whatever charger you install. Your grid operator can arrange a three-phase connection. The rules, the waiting time and the cost differ per country.
Which plug does the BYD Dolphin 60.4 kWh use?
The Dolphin charges through a Type 2 socket, the European standard for AC charging. Every 11 kW charger in our range uses that same standard. You therefore never need an adapter at home.
Why does a MID meter matter for the Dolphin?
A MID-certified kWh meter records your charging accurately. From 2026, Dutch private drivers can earn money back on it through their energy supplier. Everywhere else it gives you a reliable basis for claiming home charging from your employer or lease company.
