BMW X1 xDrive25e EV charger: which one fits best?
The BMW X1 xDrive25e is a plug-in hybrid that charges at home at up to 3.7 kW through a single phase. That makes the choice simpler than for a fully electric car, because the car never draws more than 3.7 kW. A modest charger fills the battery overnight. The X1 xDrive25e has a Type 2 inlet. You only need a separate Type 2 charging cable at a public charge point. At home you charge through the fixed cable of your charger.
Which EV charger fits the BMW X1 xDrive25e?
This X1 charges on a single phase at 3.7 kW. A costly 11 or 22 kW charger adds nothing to the charging speed. A MID meter matters more. That is a certified kWh meter that logs your charging accurately.

How long does the BMW X1 xDrive25e take to charge?
The X1 xDrive25e has a 10 kWh battery and charges at up to 3.7 kW. An empty battery is full again in about 3 hours. Plug it in overnight and it is full by morning, even with the simplest charger. A higher charging power does not speed this up, because the car's onboard charger sets the limit.

Does the BMW X1 xDrive25e need a three-phase charger?
No. The car charges on a single phase at up to 3.7 kW, so a single-phase charger is fine. You can install a three-phase charger, but the X1 does not use the extra phases and still charges at 3.7 kW.
Why is a MID meter useful for this X1?
A certified MID kWh meter logs your charging accurately. In the Netherlands, from 2026 private drivers can earn back around 10 cents per kWh charged at home. That scheme applies in the Netherlands only. At 7.4 kW our range has no charger with a built-in MID meter, so look at the 11 kW range if you want one.
