For the full 11 kW you do need a three-phase connection at home. On a single phase the car charges noticeably more slowly, so check what your meter cupboard offers. Does your heat pump, oven or washing machine often run at the same time? Then pick a charger with dynamic load balancing. Load balancing means the charger measures how much power is free. It adjusts the charging speed itself, so your main fuse never trips.

The ID.5 Pure uses a Type 2 connection, like most modern chargers. You only need a separate Type 2 charging cable for public charge points. At home you charge through the cable of your own charger.

For the full 11 kW, yes. The ID.5 Pure charges across three phases, so a three-phase 11 kW charger uses the whole on-board charger. On a single-phase connection the car still charges, only more slowly.

A MID meter is a certified kWh meter built into the charger. It records exactly how much electricity goes into your car, separate from your household consumption. That gives you a reliable figure for what home charging actually costs you.
Can you charge the ID.5 Pure with a portable charger?
