Which Easee Charge EV Charger suits you best?

The four Charge models look almost identical on the outside, but differ internally. The main differences are whether or not they have a MID meter and how many chargers can be connected to the same connection. The Charge Up and Core do not have a MID meter, while the Max and Pro do. The Charge Up and Max support up to three chargers on the same connection, while the Core and Pro are unlimitedly scalable via the Easee Cloud.

Charge Up vs Charge Core: home use or scalable

The Easee Charge Up is the entry-level model in the series and the successor to the old Charge Lite. Easee positions this model as a home charger for one to three chargers per location. You get 22 kW charging power on a 3-phase connection, dynamic load balancing and control via the app, but no MID meter. For a normal family situation, even with two electric cars, this is more than sufficient.

The Easee Charge Core has exactly the same charging power and the same Easee app, but is designed for scalable setups. Via the Easee Cloud, you can connect an unlimited number of chargers to the same power supply. This makes the Charge Core interesting for an apartment complex, an apartment association parking area or a business location where you may want to expand later.

Charge Max and Charge Pro: EV chargers with MID meter

Do you want to reimburse charging sessions with your employer or for tax purposes? Then you need a MID-certified kWh meter. This is built into the Charge Max and Charge Pro as standard. The Charge Max is essentially the Charge Up plus a MID meter, suitable for home use with business reimbursement. The Charge Pro is the scalable version with MID meter, ideal for a business charging site where every user is billed separately. The Charge Pro also supports ISO 15118, the communication standard between vehicle and EV charger. This enables Plug & Charge: simply plug in, your car is recognised automatically and the session is linked directly to the correct user account.

Both models are suitable for ERE certificates in the Netherlands and for business reimbursement. Please note: ERE registration is only supported in the Netherlands. With an ERE certificate, you receive compensation for the renewable electricity charged into an electric car through your EV charger. A MID meter is mandatory for this. Frequently asked questions about Easee Charge EV chargers

What is the difference between the Easee Charge Up and the Easee Charge Max?

The Charge Up and the Charge Max have the same 22 kW charging power and use the same app. The difference is the MID meter: the Charge Max has one built in, while the Charge Up does not. If you want to reimburse charging sessions with your employer or claim ERE certificates in the Netherlands, choose the Charge Max or Charge Pro.

Does the Easee Charge also work with solar panels?

Yes. Via a P1 port connection and the Easee app, you can set the charger to charge your car using your own generated solar power. The charger automatically adjusts the charging power based on what your panels are producing at that moment.

Is the Easee Charge Lite still available?

No, the Easee Charge Lite is no longer being produced. Easee introduced the Charge Up as its successor, with the same dimensions and functions, plus improved components and a more extensive RCD.

Do I need a 3-phase connection for an Easee Charge?

For the maximum charging power of 22 kW, you need a 3-phase connection. The Charge series also works on 1-phase, in which case you charge at a maximum of 7.4 kW. Not sure about your connection? Check with your grid operator or contact our customer service.
