Toyota bZ4X EV charger: which one fits best?
The Toyota bZ4X charges at home at either 6.6 kW or 11 kW AC. Which one you have decides everything about your charger choice. The 6.6 kW unit runs on one phase, the 11 kW unit on three, and that is what sets your charging speed. Compare the rest of the range in our overview of Toyota EV chargers. Driving the newer model? For the Toyota bZ4X we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.
Does your bZ4X have the single phase 6.6 kW charger? Then an 11 kW charger gives you just 3.7 kW, because your car uses only one of the three phases. A 7.4 kW EV charger keeps your full speed in that case. Check your own car before you order.

Which EV charger fits the Toyota bZ4X?
Start with the charging power. An 11 kW charger suits the three phase version perfectly and never pushes more than your car accepts. It also leaves room for your next EV. A 22 kW charger adds nothing here, because the bZ4X never draws more than 11 kW.
Next, look at what the charger itself can do. A MID meter is a certified kWh meter. It records your home charging separately from the rest of your household use. So you know exactly what charging costs you. At 11 kW that choice is narrow: most of our chargers with a MID meter are 22 kW models. At 7.4 kW there is currently no charger with a MID meter in our range at all. A 7.4 kW charger without one still gives your car its full speed.
Two features matter more for a car that charges this calmly. Dynamic load balancing measures what your home is using. It gives the car only the power that is left, so your fuses stay safe. An EV charger with an app lets you shift a long overnight session to cheaper hours. If 11 kW is more than your meter cabinet allows, our home charger range starts at lower powers.
Wallbox Discounter arranges installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany. We ship worldwide, but installation stays limited to those three countries. Elsewhere, have a qualified electrician connect the charger.
How long does the Toyota bZ4X take to charge?
The bZ4X holds roughly 64 kWh of usable battery. On an 11 kW charger Toyota quotes about 6 hours 30 for a full charge. With the 6.6 kW charger a full session takes around 10 hours 45. Both figures already include charging losses, so they run longer than a plain capacity divided by power sum. Either way, plug in during the evening and the car is ready in the morning. The bZ4X uses a Type 2 connection at home. For public points without a fixed cable you need a Type 2 charging cable.
Frequently asked questions about the Toyota bZ4X
Does the Toyota bZ4X charge at 11 kW at home?
That depends on your version. Toyota built the bZ4X with two different on-board chargers, and markets and build dates differ. The three phase version takes the full 11 kW. The single phase version draws 3.7 kW from an 11 kW charger, because it can use one phase only. Your vehicle documents or your Toyota dealer can confirm which one you have.
Does the bZ4X need an EV charger with a MID meter?
No, it is not a requirement. A certified meter is still useful. It shows precisely what your home charging costs, separately from the rest of your electricity. Do note that our MID meter range is concentrated at 22 kW, a power the bZ4X cannot use. Weigh that against charging at the speed your car actually supports.
