Which EV charger suits a Nissan?
Most Nissan models charge on a single phase, and the on-board charger sets the limit. A Leaf, a Leaf e+ and the Ariya 63 kWh all stay between 3.6 and 7.4 kW. For those cars a single-phase 7.4 kW EV charger gives you the full speed. A three-phase 11 kW EV charger delivers 3 x 16 A. A single-phase Nissan then draws just one phase from it, so no more than 3.7 kW.
The Nissan Ariya 87 kWh and the Townstar EV charge on three phases. The Ariya 87 kWh takes up to 22 kW as standard, provided your home has a three-phase connection. A 22 kW EV charger then uses that power in full.
Do you drive an older Nissan Leaf with a Type 1 connection? Then choose a charger with a socket instead of a fixed cable, plus a matching Type 1 to Type 2 charging cable.
