Which EV charger suits the Audi Q7 e-tron?
The 11 kW category is three-phase, and that is exactly what this car needs. On such a unit the Q7 e-tron takes 16 A from two of the three phases. That gets it to its full 7.2 kW, with the third phase simply idle. A 7.4 kW single-phase charger looks like a match on paper. In practice it feeds one phase only. The car drops to 3.7 kW and waits twice as long. A 22 kW charger changes nothing here, because the ceiling sits in the car.
A MID meter is a certified kWh meter built into the charger. It records what you put into the car separately from the rest of your household use. How long does the Audi Q7 e-tron take to charge?
The sum is straightforward. A 17.3 kWh battery at 7.2 kW works out at roughly two and a half hours. Audi quotes the same figure for a full charge. Plug the car in after dinner and it is done well before bedtime.
On a single-phase charger the car draws only 3.7 kW. The same battery then needs about four and a half hours. Audi has never published a usable capacity, so both times use the 17.3 kWh gross figure. DC rapid charging is not available on this plug-in hybrid. A motorway stop only refuels the diesel side.

Does the Audi Q7 e-tron need a fast charger?
It needs a three-phase one rather than a fast one. The car tops out at 7.2 kW, so 22 kW buys you nothing. But it needs two phases to reach that 7.2 kW, and only a three-phase charger offers them. An 11 kW unit is the natural fit.
Why is a MID meter useful on the Q7 e-tron?
A MID meter shows exactly how much electricity goes into the car at home. This Audi charges most evenings, so that adds up quickly over a year.
