Tesla Neurio Energy Meter W2

With this energy meter you provide your Tesla charging station with Dynamic Load Balancing. This allows the charger to take into account the total power consumption at your location and use the residual power for your car. There are two variants of the Tesla Neurio energy meter, one that connects to a 1-phase meter box and one that connects to the 3-phase meter box.

What the Tesla Neurio Energy Meter does

The Tesla Neurio Energy Meter W2 gives your Tesla charging station dynamic load balancing. It measures how much power the rest of your home is using at that moment, and the charger uses whatever capacity is left over to charge the car. That keeps your main fuse from tripping when the oven, the heat pump and the car all want power at once.

This meter works with the Tesla Wall Connector Gen 3 and is not compatible with chargers from other brands. There are two versions: one for a 1-phase meter box and one for a 3-phase meter box. This version is supplied without an external antenna.

This is a consumption meter for load balancing, not a MID certified meter. If you need certified readings to bill charging sessions to an employer or a lease company, you need a charger with a built-in MID meter instead.

This version of the Tesla Neurio Meter is supplied without (external) antenna.

The Tesla Neurio energy meter is located in the meter box and the 1 or 3 CT clamps are placed around the 1 or 3 phases of your meter box. These terminals measure active power consumption. The CT terminals are connected to the Tesla Neurio energy meter. A UTP cable connects the Tesla Neurio energy meter to the charging station.

How it is installed in your meter box

The meter sits in your meter box. The CT clamps go around the phases of your installation, one clamp for the 1-phase version and three for the 3-phase version, and they measure active power consumption. The clamps connect to the meter, and a UTP cable connects the meter to the charging station.
