1) The first step to determine which wallbox is the most suitable for your car, is the maximum charging speed of your Nissan. You will find it on the bottom of this page.
2) After you determined which is the most suitable charging speed, you have to check if the charging speed is suitable for the current fuse box at home or your company. The wallbox with the least amount of charging power which we offer is 3.3 kW. This wallbox can be connected to (almost) every fuse box at home / company without any adjustments.
Do you want to charge faster? You can also choose a 7,2 kW, 11 kW or 22 kW wallbox. These wallboxes can sometimes by connected without any adjustments, but more often they will need (large) adjustments. Especially the 11 kW and 22 kW wallboxes often need large adjustments.
The fastest wallbox on the market is currently the 22 kW wallbox. This wallbox demands such a large amount of power of your main network and fuse box that both both have to be reinforced. The costs to reinforce the main network differ a lot per network operator and country. For example, in the Netherlands the adjustment by the network operator itself will cost at least a couple hundered of euro's and the monthly costs of such a connection will be tens of euro's extra. We therefore advise you to only install a 22 kW wallbox when your electric car can use the full amount of charging power, otherwise finacially it is an unwise decision.
Charging time per Nissan
To determine the charging time per wallbox we use the usable battery capacity. The usable battery capacity is lower than the total battery capacity, because a small part of the battery has to be used for things like your air conditioning, radio, etc.
Another point which you have to take in account is the loss of charging power. Multiple factors like the length of the charging cable, the weather and the quality of the battery will cause a loss in charging power. To give you an idea about the amount of loss you can think of about 8% loss, but this can be lower or higher depending on the previous mentoined and other factors. Because it differs too much we don't use it for the charging time calculation, but we do think it is important to keep it in mind.
Another thing to keep in mind is that every car has a maximum charging power, so not every wallbox will provide a lower charging time.
The type of plug differs a lot for the electric and hybrid Nissan's. The EV-NV200, leaf 24kWh and 30kWh consist of a type 1 plug connection and the lead 40kWH and leaf e+ consist of a type 2 plug connection.
