Choosing the right charger for the Porsche Taycan Turbo S

The Taycan Turbo S charges at 11 kW AC as standard, and it needs three phases to reach that. Three-phase means your supply carries three live wires instead of one, which spreads the current. An 11 kW charger therefore gives this car its full standard speed. A single-phase 7.4 kW unit cannot.

A 22 kW charger only pays off if your Taycan has the optional 22 kW on-board charger. Without that option the car still draws 11 kW, however powerful the wall unit is. Three features are worth weighing up for a car with a battery this size. Load balancing means the charger watches what the rest of your house is using.
