Tesla Model 3 Performance EV charger: which one suits you best?
What makes the Tesla Model 3 Performance quick is the acceleration, not the charging. At home this top version accepts a maximum AC charging power of 11 kW, exactly like every other Model 3. So you need a good 11 kW charger, not a heavier one. Every Model 3 version charges at that same 11 kW. You can check each one on the Tesla Model 3 overview, or browse the whole Tesla EV charger range.
For the Tesla Model 3 Performance we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.

Which EV charger suits the Tesla Model 3 Performance?
At home the Model 3 Performance accepts up to 11 kW on a three-phase supply. Three-phase means your connection carries current over three phases at once, instead of one. An 11 kW charger therefore draws the full power the car allows. A heavier 22 kW unit will not charge it faster, because the car caps itself at 11 kW.
At this power level a built-in MID meter is worth looking at. That is a certified kWh meter inside the charger. Because the meter sits in the charger, it records your charging apart from the rest of your household use. The certification makes that reading legally valid. You then know exactly what charging at home costs you. We stock chargers with a MID meter at both 11 kW and 22 kW.
Two further features matter for a car that spends the night on the charger. Load balancing comes first: a charger with dynamic load balancing keeps measuring how much current your fuse box has spare. It then adjusts the charging power itself, so it stays within what your supply can carry. An app-controlled charger lets you set a session and read your consumption from your phone.
Most people go for a wall-mounted model. Our home EV chargers bring those together.
How long does the Tesla Model 3 Performance take to charge?
An empty battery holds around 75 kWh. At 11 kW it fills again in roughly 7 hours. Plug in during the evening and the car is ready in the morning without any planning.
Do you only have a single-phase supply at home? Then the charging power is lower, often around 3.7 kW on a 16 A circuit, and a full charge takes longer. In that case it is worth asking your grid operator what a three-phase connection would cost. What is possible differs per country. The Model 3 Performance uses a Type 2 connection, the same as your charger. At home you therefore charge straight from the charger itself.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Tesla Model 3 Performance charge faster than the other versions?
No. At home every Tesla Model 3, the Performance included, charges at a maximum of 11 kW over AC. The extra performance sits in the power and the acceleration, not in the charging speed. An 11 kW charger is therefore enough.
Does the Tesla Model 3 Performance need a charger with a MID meter?
Not strictly, but it is a sensible choice. The certified meter inside the charger shows you exactly what a night of charging costs, separate from the rest of your bill.
Should I have my charger installed?
We always advise having the connection made by an accredited electrician. That is safer and it matters for your insurance. We install in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany. In the Netherlands and Flemish Belgium you can order the installation together with the charger. In Germany it runs through a free quote. Outside those three countries we ship the charger but do not install it.
