Cupra Leon EV charger: which one fits best?
The Cupra Leon e-Hybrid is a plug-in hybrid and charges at up to 3.6 kW at home, over a single phase. The car sets that limit, not the charger. An 11 kW home charger is therefore more than enough. It also leaves you headroom for a faster EV later. The fully electric Cupra models charge at higher rates, which you can compare across all Cupra EV chargers.
For the Cupra Leon we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.

Which EV charger suits the Cupra Leon?
Because the Cupra Leon charges at 3.6 kW at most, you do not need the most powerful model. We still recommend a full 11 kW charger. It handles this plug-in hybrid without effort and is ready for your next electric car. Three-phase means the power runs over the three separate phases of your fuse box instead of one. The Leon simply uses one of them.
The meter inside the charger is worth a decision as well. A MID meter is a calibrated electricity meter built into the charger itself. That is what separates your home charging from the rest of your household use. The calibration is what makes the reading legally valid. For a plug-in hybrid that is useful too, because you charge at home almost every day.
Our 11 kW EV chargers all handle this Leon at full speed, so the choice comes down to the features you want. If calibrated measurement is one of them, our chargers with a MID meter bring those models together; we carry them at both 11 kW and 22 kW. We always recommend having the charger connected by a qualified electrician.
How long does the Cupra Leon take to charge?
The battery holds about 12.8 kWh in total, of which roughly 10.4 kWh is usable. At 3.6 kW that works out at about three hours for a full charge. Plug the car in during the evening and you drive your daily trips fully electric the next morning. This plug-in hybrid does not support DC fast charging, so charging at home is the sensible route.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a fast charger for the Cupra Leon?
No. As a plug-in hybrid the Cupra Leon charges at 3.6 kW at most. An 11 kW charger fills it just as fast as a less powerful model, but it is ready for your next electric car.
Does the Cupra Leon need a three-phase connection?
No, the car charges on one phase at 3.6 kW, so a single-phase connection is enough. Pick an 11 kW charger anyway and you only see the difference with a fully electric car that accepts more power.
Why is a MID meter useful on a plug-in hybrid as well?
The MID meter sits inside the charger, so it records your charging separately from your household use. Because it is calibrated, that reading is legally valid. You see what charging the Leon costs you at home, and a plug-in hybrid charges often, so it adds up.
