Which EV charger is suitable for the Opel Corsa-e with 11 kW?
The Corsa-e charges at home at a maximum of 11 kW. A 3-phase 11 kW EV charger is therefore the logical choice. A 22 kW EV charger can also be used, but it does not provide any additional charging speed for this vehicle because the onboard charger accepts no more than 11 kW.
If you need accurate and certified measurement of charging consumption, you should also look for an integrated MID meter. This records exactly how many kilowatt-hours have been charged through the EV charger. It is particularly useful when you use the Corsa-e as a company or lease vehicle and want the home charging costs to be reimbursed by your employer or business. If the EV charger does not have an integrated MID meter, a suitable separate MID-certified energy meter can be installed. In the Netherlands, a MID meter may also be required for participation in the ERE scheme. The ERE scheme is only available in the Netherlands.

How long does it take to charge the Opel Corsa-e with 11 kW?
The usable battery capacity of approximately 46.3 kWh can theoretically be charged in just over four hours using an 11 kW EV charger. When normal charging losses are taken into account, you should allow approximately five hours for a full charge from almost empty to full. If you connect the vehicle at around 11:00 p.m., it will be ready again the following morning with a fully charged battery.
If no 3-phase connection is available at home and the Corsa-e charges on a single phase at a maximum of 7.4 kW, the full charging time increases to approximately seven hours. This still fits comfortably within one night. The charging power that is actually available depends on the amperage of the electrical connection and the configuration of the installation.
The Corsa-e has a Type 2 connection, just like most modern EV chargers. You need a separate Type 2 charging cable for an EV charger with a socket or when charging at a public charging station without a fixed cable.

Does the Opel Corsa-e with 11 kW need a 3-phase connection?
Yes. To use the full AC charging power of 11 kW, you need a 3-phase connection rated at 3 x 16 amps. If only a single-phase connection is available, the Corsa-e charges more slowly. Depending on the fuse rating and installation, up to 7.4 kW may be available on a single phase. A qualified electrician or your grid operator can determine whether your electrical connection is suitable for 3-phase charging.
Why is a MID meter useful for the Corsa-e?
A MID meter is a certified kWh meter that records charging consumption accurately and transparently. This is particularly useful when you use the Corsa-e as a company or lease vehicle and want the home charging costs to be reimbursed by your employer or business. In the Netherlands, a MID meter may also be required for ERE registration. The ERE scheme is only available in the Netherlands. If the EV charger does not have an integrated MID meter, a separate MID-certified energy meter can be installed.
