Polestar 3 Long Range Performance EV charger: which one suits you best?
The Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor Performance is the most powerful version of the Polestar 3. It makes 380 kW and goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. Behind those flagship figures sits a sober home charging reality. Like every Polestar 3, this version takes a maximum of 11 kW of alternating current at home. The 250 kW you read about is DC fast charging on the road, not something your own wallbox will ever deliver.
Every version of this car charges at the same 11 kW, so the trim does not change your choice. Compare the versions on the Polestar 3 EV charger page, or browse all Polestar EV chargers.
For the Polestar 3 Long Range Performance we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.

Which EV charger suits the Polestar 3 Long Range Performance?
This top version charges at 11 kW at home. An 11 kW charger on a three-phase connection, meaning all three phases of your electricity supply, is therefore exactly enough. A 22 kW model gains you nothing. The car never draws more than 11 kW from a wallbox, whatever the charger can deliver.
At this power level you can also have your charging measured. A MID meter is a certified kWh meter built into the charger. The meter sits inside the charger, so it records your charging separately from the rest of your household use. The certification makes that reading legally valid. We stock chargers with this meter at 11 kW and at 22 kW. You will find them in our range of EV chargers with a MID meter.
A car with a 107 kWh battery spends a long evening on the charger, which makes two other features worth having. The first is load balancing. It lets the charger read how much current your fuse box has to spare and adjust its own draw, so nothing trips while the rest of the house is running. Our EV chargers with dynamic load balancing handle that for you. The second is app control: you set the charge to start when your energy is cheapest and leave it alone. That is what our EV chargers with an app are for.
The Polestar 3 uses a Type 2 connection, like most modern chargers. At home you therefore charge through the charger's own fixed cable, without a separate one.
How long does the Polestar 3 Long Range Performance take to charge?
You have a usable 107 kWh battery and 11 kW of charging power. Count on roughly 10 hours for a full charge from empty. In practice you rarely go from 0 to 100 percent. Plug in during the evening with 30 percent left and the car is full again by around six in the morning. Per hour you add somewhere between 45 and 55 kilometres of range, depending on your driving style and the season. That is comfortably enough for daily commuting with an overnight charge.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Polestar 3 Long Range Performance charge faster than the other versions?
Not at home, no. Every version of the Polestar 3 charges at a maximum of 11 kW AC. The time at a wallbox is therefore the same for the Performance, the Dual Motor and the Single Motor. The difference lies in power and road behaviour, not in charging speed.
Does the Polestar 3 Long Range Performance need a three-phase connection?
To reach the full 11 kW you need a three-phase connection at home, at 3 x 16 A. On a single-phase connection the car still charges at up to 7.4 kW, because its onboard charger draws 32 A on one phase, provided your supply allows that current. A full charge then takes considerably longer. In most countries your grid operator can upgrade you to a three-phase connection. We always recommend having the connection made by a certified electrician, which is safer and matters for your insurance.
Why does a MID meter matter on the Polestar 3?
You do not need one, but with a battery this size it is worth having. A full charge uses a noticeable amount of electricity, and a certified meter shows you exactly what that cost, separately from the rest of your bill. Many owners charge overnight on a fixed home EV charger, where that meter sits ready to record every session.
