Mercedes E 300 e Limousine EV charger: which one fits best?
The Mercedes E 300 e Limousine is the saloon version of the petrol plug-in hybrid E-Class. It has a 13.5 kWh battery and a 7.4 kW on-board charger, the charger built into the car. That 7.4 kW sets your charging speed at home: a more powerful EV charger will not charge this car any faster. So this E-Class does not need a 22 kW charger. Choose one that comfortably delivers 7.4 kW and suits your fuse box. Our overview of all Mercedes EV chargers lists every model with its own charging power.
For the Mercedes E 300 e Limousine we recommend a charger from our 7.4 kW EV chargers. Check the charging power in your vehicle documents or in the charging menu of the car.

Which EV charger suits the Mercedes E 300 e Limousine?
This E 300 e charges at up to 7.4 kW on a single phase. A three-phase charger does not make it charge faster. On an 11 kW EV charger (3 x 16 A) it even drops to 3.7 kW. The car uses only one phase. A 22 kW EV charger (3 x 32 A) does give it the full 7.4 kW. That needs a three-phase connection of 32 A per phase. For most homes a 7.4 kW charger is the simplest choice.
An adjustable charging power is useful if your fuse box has little spare capacity. With dynamic load balancing, the charger measures how much power your home uses. It lowers the charging power when needed, so the rest of your home keeps enough power.
A MID meter is a certified kWh meter built into the charger. It records your home charging separately from your household use, so you know exactly what charging costs. In our range the chargers with a MID meter are three-phase models. On a 22 kW model with MID meter and a 32 A three-phase connection, this car still charges at 7.4 kW. On an 11 kW model it charges at 3.7 kW.

How long does the Mercedes E 300 e Limousine take to charge?
You work out the charging time by dividing the battery capacity by the charging power. With a charger that delivers 7.4 kW, the 13.5 kWh battery is full again in about 2 hours. The bare sum is 13.5 / 7.4 = 1.8 hours. In practice it takes a little longer because of charging losses. At 3.7 kW, for example on a single phase of 16 A, a full charge takes about 3.5 to 4 hours. If you plug in the car in the evening, it is fully charged well in time either way. DC fast charging is not possible on this plug-in hybrid.
The E 300 e has a Type 2 charging port. At home you charge via the fixed connection of your charger. On the road you need a Type 2 charging cable.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Mercedes E 300 e Limousine need a three-phase charger?
No. The E 300 e charges on a single phase at up to 7.4 kW. A 7.4 kW single-phase charger therefore gives it its full charging speed. A three-phase charger only matches that 7.4 kW if it delivers 32 A per phase, as a 22 kW model does. On an 11 kW model the car charges at 3.7 kW.
Why is a MID meter important for this car?
With a built-in MID meter you record exactly how much you charge at home, apart from your other electricity use. That makes the cost of charging transparent, for example when you want to settle it with an employer. Keep in mind that the MID chargers in our range are three-phase models.
Should I have the charger connected by an electrician?
We always recommend having the charger connected by a qualified electrician. That is safer and important for your insurance. In the Netherlands and Flemish Belgium you can book the installation together with your order. In Germany installation runs via a free quotation. We do not arrange installation in other countries.
