NIO ET7 EV charger: overview per version

The NIO ET7 comes in two versions: a 75 kWh and a 100 kWh. Both charge at up to 11 kW at home through a Type 2 connection. They differ in battery capacity, range and charging time. Which EV charger suits the NIO ET7?

Both versions charge at a maximum of 11 kW alternating current (AC) at home. An 11 kW charger on a 3-phase connection, so three phases at once, gets everything out of your car. Do you only have a single-phase connection? Then the ET7 charges at 7.4 kW, still much faster than a wall socket. You will find suitable models among our 7.4 kW EV chargers. So base your choice on your fuse box, not on the car. At home the ET7 never goes beyond 11 kW.

Look for a built-in MID meter when you choose. A MID meter is a certified kWh meter that records exactly how much electricity goes into your car. That keeps your charging separate from the rest of your household use, so you always know what charging at home actually costs. Worth knowing: in our range the MID meter starts at 11 kW, so a 7.4 kW charging station does not offer one. In our view a charging station with MID meter is simply the sensible choice. How long does the NIO ET7 take to charge?

You calculate the charging time by dividing the battery capacity by the charging power. On an 11 kW charger the 75 kWh ET7 goes from empty to full in about 6.5 hours. That is one night on the charger. The 100 kWh version has a bigger battery and takes about 8 hours. On a single-phase connection at 7.4 kW those times rise to roughly 10 and 12 hours. In daily use you rarely charge from completely empty, so in practice you spend less time plugged in.

Frequently asked questions about the NIO ET7

At what power does the NIO ET7 charge at home?

Both versions of the ET7 have an 11 kW onboard charger. On a 3-phase connection you therefore charge at up to 11 kW. A charger that handles more, such as 22 kW, brings no gain, because the car cannot take the extra power. The ET7 uses a Type 2 connection, the European standard.

Which version charges fastest on an EV charger?

The 75 kWh ET7 is full soonest, simply because the battery is smaller. On 11 kW that is about 6.5 hours, against about 8 hours for the 100 kWh. The charging power is the same for both, so the difference is purely the amount of energy you put in. Choose your version on the range you need, not on charging speed.

Does the recommended NIO ET7 charger need a MID meter?

The charger works fine without one, but we do recommend a MID meter. A certified kWh meter shows you precisely what you charge at home, separately from your other electricity use. We also always advise having the connection made by a qualified electrician, which is safer and matters for your insurance.
