Peugeot e-Expert 50 kWh EV charger: which one fits best?
The Peugeot e-Expert 50 kWh charges at home through a Type 2 connector. With a usable battery of 46 kWh your electric van is full again well within a night. One detail decides your choice, though. This van exists with two different onboard chargers, the part inside the van that sets how fast it can take power. For the Peugeot e-Expert 50 kWh with the three-phase onboard charger we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.
That charger draws power over three live wires instead of one. The standard onboard charger is single-phase and draws 7.4 kW at 32 A. So check first which of the two sits in your van.
Does it have the single-phase one? Then a charger from our 7.4 kW EV chargers is the right match. On a three-phase 11 kW EV charger that same van falls back to 3.7 kW, which nearly halves its charging speed.

Which charger suits the Peugeot e-Expert 50 kWh?
Start with the onboard charger of your own van, because that sets the ceiling. A 22 kW EV charger never charges this van faster than 11 kW. Our 11 kW EV chargers are therefore the natural match for the three-phase version.
A charger with a MID meter records every session on a certified kWh meter. You then see what charging this van costs you, separately from the rest of your household use. That option starts at 11 kW here, so a single-phase 7.4 kW EV charger does not offer it.
A van that hangs on the charger for five hours also benefits from dynamic load balancing. The EV charger measures how much current your electrical panel has left and lowers the charging power by itself. Your circuit stays within its limit even when the rest of the house draws heavily. We arrange installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany. In Germany it runs through a free quotation instead of a bookable product. Outside those three countries we ship the charger worldwide, but you arrange the connection yourself. We always advise having that work done by a qualified electrician. That is safer, and it matters for your insurance.
The e-Expert uses a Type 2 connection, so at home you charge through the EV charger itself. A separate Type 2 charging cable is only needed if you also want to charge the van elsewhere.
How long does the Peugeot e-Expert 50 kWh take to charge?
The plain sum is the usable battery of 46 kWh divided by the charging power. On an 11 kW EV charger that gives just over four hours. In practice you should count on about five, because charging always loses some energy along the way. At 7.4 kW the same van needs roughly seven and a half hours.
Only a single-phase connection at home? On a 32 A supply this van still charges at 7.4 kW, so about seven and a half hours. On a 16 A supply it drops to 3.7 kW and needs roughly fifteen hours. On the road the e-Expert charges through CCS at around 100 kW. That helps on longer trips where 230 kilometres is just short.
A three-phase connection for maximum charging power
To reach the full 11 kW you need a three-phase connection at home or at work. That means three live wires instead of one. In much new-build housing and in upgraded connections this is already standard. Still on single phase? Then you can apply for a three-phase connection through your grid operator. Rules and costs differ per country, so ask your own operator what applies to you.

Does the Peugeot e-Expert 50 kWh need a three-phase connection?
For the full 11 kW it does. On a single-phase connection the e-Expert charges at 7.4 kW at most, and only 3.7 kW on a 16 A supply. You arrange a three-phase connection through your grid operator.
Does a MID meter matter for the Peugeot e-Expert 50 kWh?
Yes. A certified kWh meter records your charging accurately, so you know what this van costs you at the plug. Keep in mind that the option starts at 11 kW in our range, not at 7.4 kW.
Can I charge the Peugeot e-Expert 50 kWh faster with a 22 kW charger?
No. The e-Expert 50 kWh accepts 11 kW at most on AC, and 7.4 kW with the standard onboard charger. A 22 kW EV charger therefore charges this van no faster. For real speed you use a CCS rapid charger, which delivers up to around 100 kW.
