Jaguar I-Pace EV charger: an overview by version

The Jaguar I-Pace comes in several versions. Which one you drive decides which EV charger suits your car. The early EV400 from 2018 charges at 7.4 kW, while the later cars accept up to 11 kW. Below you see the charging power and the charging time per version. Driving a different model? Then browse our overview of all Jaguar EV chargers.

For the Jaguar I-Pace we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.

Versions of the Jaguar I-Pace

All versions share the same 84.7 kWh battery and a Type 2 connection. The difference is the maximum charging power at home, and that decides how fast you charge.

Which EV charger fits the Jaguar I-Pace?

Most I-Pace versions charge at 11 kW at home over a three-phase connection. Three-phase means your supply carries the current over three phases instead of one, so you charge faster. At 11 kW a full charge takes about 7.5 hours. That fits comfortably inside one night.

Do you drive the early EV400 from model years 2018 to 2020? That car takes 7.4 kW over a single phase, so a full charge runs to roughly 11.5 hours. For that version a unit from our 7.4 kW EV chargers is enough. A heavier charger does no harm, but your car never charges faster than its own maximum.

Look for a charger with a built-in MID meter. Because that meter sits inside the charger, it counts only the electricity your car takes. The MID certification makes that reading legally valid, so it holds up as proof. You therefore know what charging at home costs you, separate from the rest of your household.

Our 7.4 kW range has no charger with a built-in MID meter. We stock chargers with this meter at 11 kW and at 22 kW. Have a look at our EV chargers with a MID meter. The full selection of 11 kW EV chargers is a good place to start. A wall-mounted unit charges your car several times faster than an ordinary socket, so our home EV chargers are the easiest entry point.

The Jaguar I-Pace has a Type 2 connection. At home you charge straight from the charger itself. Do you also want to plug in at other charge points? Then a Type 2 charging cable is handy to keep in the car. We always advise having the connection made by a qualified electrician. That is safer and it matters for your insurance. Would you like your charger including installation? We arrange that in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany. In Germany it runs through a free quote rather than a booked installation.

Frequently asked questions about the Jaguar I-Pace

Does the Jaguar I-Pace need a three-phase charger?

For the EV320 and the EV400 from 2020 onwards it does. Those cars charge at 11 kW, and that asks for three phases. The early EV400 from model years 2018 to 2020 charges at 7.4 kW and does fine on a single phase. Do you already have a three-phase supply? Then pick an 11 kW charger, so you are ready for your next electric car as well.

Why does a MID meter matter for my Jaguar I-Pace?

A MID-certified kWh meter records exactly how much electricity you charged at home. The meter sits inside the charger, so that figure stays separate from your household use. The certification makes the reading legally valid, which helps whenever you need to prove it.
