Which EV charger suits your Kia depends above all on the charging power of your car. The recent fully electric models charge at home on 11 kW over a three-phase supply. That covers the EV3, EV6, EV9, the current Niro EV and the e-Niro from 2020. Such a supply carries three live wires instead of one, so it delivers more power at once. The e-Soul and the first e-Niro charge on a single phase. The Kia plug-in hybrids charge at a lower power still. Which EV charger suits a Kia?

Do you drive a Kia that charges on three phases? That covers the EV3, EV6, EV9, the current Niro EV and the e-Niro from 2020. An 11 kW charger then gets the most out of it. Our 11 kW EV chargers cover exactly what these models need. A 22 kW charger will not fill any Kia faster, but the 22 kW EV chargers leave room for a next car.

Do you have an e-Soul, or an e-Niro from 2018 or 2019? Those charge on a single phase at 7.2 kW, which is 32 A. A 7.4 kW EV charger lets them charge at full speed. An 11 kW charger delivers three times 16 A. A car that charges on one phase takes only one of those, which caps it at 3.7 kW. That is roughly half of what the car can do.

A plug-in hybrid stays around 3.3 kW, so a 7.4 kW charger is already more than it can use.

Look for a built-in MID meter where the power allows it. That is a certified kWh meter. You see exactly what charging your Kia costs, separately from the rest of your household use. In our range that meter starts at 11 kW, so at 7.4 kW we do not stock one.

For an e-Soul or an early e-Niro that leaves a choice, and the 22 kW range settles it. Those chargers run 32 A per phase, so your car still reaches its full 7.2 kW. Every EV charger with a MID meter in our range runs at 11 kW or above.
