Citroën e-SpaceTourer 50 kWh EV charger: which one fits best?

The Citroën e-SpaceTourer 50 kWh charges at home through a Type 2 connection. As standard it takes 7.4 kW on a single phase, and a three-phase 11 kW charger is available as a factory option. That on-board charger sets your charging speed, so a heavier wallbox will not charge this van any faster. Want to compare the versions first? For the Citroën e-SpaceTourer 50 kWh we recommend a charger from our 7.4 kW EV chargers.

Did you order the optional three-phase on-board charger? Then an 11 kW EV charger is the better match, and it cuts almost two hours off a full charge.

Which EV charger suits the Citroën e-SpaceTourer 50 kWh?

Most e-SpaceTourer vans leave the factory with the single-phase 7.4 kW charger. A 7.4 kW wallbox therefore uses everything the van can take. Going heavier buys you nothing, because the car sets the ceiling, not the wallbox.

One thing to know before you choose. A built-in MID meter records exactly what you charge at home. In our range that certified kWh meter does not exist at 7.4 kW. It starts at 11 kW. Do you want your charging costs kept separate from your household use? Then look at our EV chargers with MID meter and pair one with the optional three-phase charger.

What you can have at 7.4 kW is app control. You start, stop and schedule a session from your phone, which is useful if you charge on a night tariff. Our EV chargers with app all offer this. For a van that charges overnight on the drive, a straightforward model from our home chargers covers the job.

The e-SpaceTourer has a Type 2 connection, the same as most modern wallboxes. A separate Type 2 charging cable is only needed when you want to charge at a public point.

We arrange installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany. Outside those three countries we ship the charger, but we do not install it. Shipping is worldwide, installation is not, so please do not read the one as the other. In the Netherlands and Flemish Belgium you book the installation with your order; in Germany you request a free quote first.

How long does the Citroën e-SpaceTourer 50 kWh take to charge?

On a 7.4 kW wallbox a full charge takes around 6 hours and 40 minutes. Plug the van in at 23:00 and it is ready in the morning without any planning. With the optional three-phase charger and an 11 kW wallbox that drops to roughly 4 hours and 50 minutes.

Both figures include charging losses, so they run higher than capacity divided by power. On the road you charge over CCS at up to about 100 kW. That takes the battery from 10 to 80% in half an hour.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Citroën e-SpaceTourer 50 kWh need a three-phase connection?

Not for the standard version. The single-phase 7.4 kW on-board charger runs on a single-phase supply. You only need a three-phase connection if your van has the optional 11 kW three-phase charger. Your grid operator can arrange that connection for you.

Why does a MID meter matter for the e-SpaceTourer?

A MID meter is a certified kWh meter inside the wallbox. It measures your charging separately from the rest of your household, so you know exactly what driving costs you. In our range this feature starts at 11 kW, which makes it a reason to consider the optional three-phase charger.

Can I charge the e-SpaceTourer 50 kWh on a 22 kW EV charger?

You can, but it gains you nothing. The van accepts 7.4 kW as standard and 11 kW with the option. A 22 kW wallbox delivers no more than the car allows. A 7.4 kW charger is enough, unless you expect a future car that can take more.
